98 Points IWR, 97-99 Points Jeb Dunnuck: The 2023 Beckstoffer Las Piedras 'Shiverick Reserve' is a stellar wine that showcases an enticing aromatic profile with ripe dark currants, black cherries, and blueberries that mingle with delicate notes of fresh violets, exotic spices, graphite, dark chocolate, with hints of dried tobacco and roasted coffee that create a captivating bouquet which bursts from the glass. On the palate, it reveals a full-bodied structure, with exceptional depth and concentration. The wine's luxurious texture carries through to a remarkably long and opulent finish, harmoniously tying all its elements together. This exceptional release from Quivet Cellars is already extremely impressive, yet it promises a long and rewarding evolution ahead that could extend over the two decades.

98 Points IWR, 97-99 Points Jeb Dunnuck: The 2023 Beckstoffer Las Piedras Cabernet Sauvignon is another outstanding from Quivet in this vintage. It features a gorgeous aromatic profile of ripe dark currants and black cherries accented with notes of violets, graphite, exotic spices, roasted coffee and crushed gravel, which evolve beautifully in the glass. On the palate, this exquisite wine showcases a full-bodied richness and impressive density, all while maintaining a sense of balance and purity. Its layered core reveals a harmonious blend of ripe dark fruits that gracefully extend through a prolonged finish. While this wine is undoubtedly impressive now, it also holds exceptional promise for the future, with the potential to develop beautifully over the coming decades.

95 Points IWR, 93-95 Jeb Dunnuck: The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Kenefick Ranch Vineyard comes from a site in Calistoga. It has a deep purple hue as well as full-bodied aromas and flavors of darker fruits, chocolate, and some graphite, and it's relatively tight, inward, and closed at the moment, which isn't a bad thing for a barrel sample. It's clearly outstanding and a beautiful Cabernet in the making. And it tastes like it costs three times the price.

95 Points IWR: The 2023 Beckstoffer Las Amigas Merlot begins with gorgeous aromas of blackberries and black cherries, delicately complemented with floral nuances. It possesses an elegant structure that emphasizes its purity and precision, with subtle hints of graphite adding an intriguing layer of complexity to the flavor profile. On the palate, it reveals a plush texture that is well structured. Everything comes together beautifully on the long polished finish. This is an excellent Merlot that should drink beautifully upon release.

The 2023 Quivet Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Lantz Vineyard is pure Napa class. Deep ruby plum to the rim, it opens with aromatics of blackcurrant liqueur, creme de mure, baker’s chocolate, and lavender, followed by subtle notes of tobacco, wet river rock, and toasted spice. Full bodied on the palate, it shows tremendous freshness and lift—there’s a real snap of red fruit and saline minerality beneath the decadent core, keeping things light on its feet despite the serious mid palate depth. Fine grained, perfectly integrated tannins made of pure velvet glide into a long, energetic finish that leaves an echo of crushed violets and dark chocolate. It almost reminds me of Las Piedras in its density but trades raw power for an extra notch of elegance and precision.

The Quivet Cellars Las Madres Vineyard Whole Cluster Syrah from  is straight up smoking good.
