Wine Profile
The Beckstoffer Las Piedras is undoubtedly one of the finest vineyards in St. Helena, and its wines are unmistakable.  Power, silk, and verve, all woven into one and already exhibiting superior sophistication.  This is an outstanding showing from this remarkable vineyard. What a wine!

Palate Impressions
Inky in color, the black cherry liqueur really stands out in the nose. Opulent, rich, dense and full bodied, with an undeniable streak of black licorice and crushed gravel right down the middle. The mid palate is alive with multiple layers of gorgeously pure and silky black/purple fruit, black raspberry with slight floral hints on the tail end. All this is framed beautifully by fine grained graphite minerals and scorched-earth tannins. The final lift is hypnotizing, ceaseless and ever-present, we are still tasting the finish on this wine. Extraordinary Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Quivet Context
Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard is one of the heritage vineyards owned and farmed by the Beckstoffer family and has been planted to vine for over 150 years. An outcrop of stony, tough soil in the middle of the typically soft and rich valley floor, this rock laden bench-land beauty nestles up against the St. Helena Mayacamas Mountain range.  Planted to Clone 4 Cabernet Sauvignon, the location and terroir offer premium drainage in an otherwise dense valley floor location. Lyre-trained to let in light and air, the Beckstoffer team and winemaker Mike Smith have collaborated over the years to dial in the farming, grape maturity, vine health and the use of shade cloth later in the season to protect from sunburn. The soft filtered light in the heat of summer helps us maintain even ripening, allowing us approachability without sacrificing age-ability in the finished wine.
